THE  BARDEN FAMILY

Bernice Kirk from Canada and Sally Edwards in the UK are researching the Barden family. The Canadian connection came when Joseph Reuben (Edwin's son and Bernice's grandfather) emigrated in March 1911. Edwin was born in Bow Brickhill on 15 March 1843 and is seen below with his wife, Emily.

Bernice has established genealogical links with both surviving branches of the Barden family still living in the village.

Below is Alfred John Barden born in Bow Brickhill in 1856, with his wife Mary Ann  (nee Pateman, of Houghton Regis).  Sally Edwards is great granddaughter of Alfred and Mary.

Below: Mary Ann with Lizzie who was born in Bow Brickhill in 1880 - this photograph taken behind the cottages at Caldecotte.

Below: Left - Clara born in 1882, Millicent born 1887 and Lizzie born 1880 - the gentleman with them is yet to be indentified.  On the right their brother George Barden born in Fenny Stratford in 1875.

Below left:  Alfred Barden, son of Alfred and Mary Ann, born 1891,
and right: Thomas & Elizabeth (nee Stamford) Barden

Below:   Thomas & Elizabeth with their children - from left to right: Betty (Don's wife), Frances (Dennis's wife), Reg, Ellen, Don, Hilda, Gladys, Dennis, Dorothy, George (Dorothy's husband).  Front row: Thomas, Elizabeth (nee Stamford), Graham (Hilda's son) Brenda (Dorothy's daughter).

Below:  Charles William Barden (born 19 February 1860 at Bow Brickhill to James Barden b. 1832 and Sarah Goodfellow b. 1830) with Emma Jane (née Turney). Charles & Emma were married in July 1891.
